Blessed by Your Enemies

“AND THE RAVENS BROUGHT HIM BREAD.”

( 1 KINGS 17:6 )

Don't limit God to using only people you approve of. That's foolish! God used a raven, a dirty bird, to feed the prophet Elijah. Nehemiah built the walls of Jerusalem with money

provided by a heathen king.

When God moves, those who'd normally shun you may become the source of what you need.

By avoiding them you may unwittingly block a blessing God had in mind for you.

Your tendency to alienate certain people can handicap you in life.

You can't escape working with difficult people. God wants you to grow in the midst of negativity, not be sucked into it!

David had the ability to work effectively with difficult people.

It doesn't get much more challenging than working with someone who has an “evil spirit” troubling him. At first David enjoyed Saul's favor, but later Saul sought to kill him. Yet David never changed his strategy. He stayed in the house because he knew the blessing of God was his in the house. And because of the conduct and wisdom with which he handled the situation, he ended up owning the house!

God's principles are ageless. David didn't limit himself and he surely didn't limit God. He knew that people fall into 2 categories: “vessels of honor” and “vessels of dishonor." Getting his eyes off people, being neither impressed nor depressed by them, afforded David unlimited opportunities. Why? Because he freed others up to be used by God! So, learn to get along with difficult people; your greatest challenge today may be the very person who assists and blesses you tomorrow.
